I got the rad support in "service position", took the alternator out, took off lower IC hose and hard pipe, unbolted the starter ... but it will not wiggle out b/c the top mounting hole hits the engine support.
am i missing any steps? i dont need to jack the engine up off the mount right? god i hope not... but i tried all different wiggle orientations and the top bracket is always hitting something. any tips or tricks?

by the way...
i needed a breaker bar to remove those motor mount bracket bolts... theyre tight as hell.
once you remove the lower bracket, you can also remove the motor mount (if needed) by removing the single 13mm nut on top of the mount. A ratcheting flex-head wrench is VERY handy here.

you can get it in there by taking off the coupler off the turbos and twisting it out but its a bitch and a half and even more when putting it back in

so the part that i circled is not the motor mount bracket? or it is? if so, how do i remove it? seems like all the weight of the engine is being supported by this thing.
the circle also shows where the starter is hitting the bracket.

one on top, and one on bottom. the bottom bracket is not present in that picture. the upper bracket is what you have pointed to with the red arrow.
remove lower bracket> remove motor mount > remove upper bracket.
i think thats what youre going to have to do :/

i removed the coupler to the turbo and wiggled the starter out ... wow what a journey it has been today.
thanks for your help guys. im sure its going to be a big PITA to get the starter in there... but itll be better than dropping the subframe.
i also found a tear in the gasket between oil pan and block ... lots of oil

putting it back in took all of a couple minutes. Just have to twist and wiggle and it comes right out and goes right back in.
