well, my 2000 S4 has 30K on it. about a month ago my passenger side turbo was making a "police-siren" whine in the 2000-3000 rpm range...after 3000 rpm it disappears. it's loudest when cold. there was NO loss of performance. (i know MANY people have this same problem.) during the course of a week, the whine got much worse to the point that it was driving me nuts! so, i took it to audi and they *supposedly changed the turbos to the new 2001's.
everything was fine for a week and now they're starting to whine again and they're getting worse.
WHAT IS THIS?!!!!![Frown](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
anyone have any ideas? i'm thinking that something else must be wrong that is causing the turbos to get screwed......?????....or audi never switched the turbos....but i saw the receipt and the whine was gone when i got the car back. this is driving me nuts. i know audi should fix itagain...i'm just worried it may come back. if it comes back after 50K that would really suck!
ps- doesn't the lemon law state that if something which has been fixed 3 times and still cannot be cured, AND it affects the reliability/value of the car MUST be lemon-lawed...???
TIA

as far as i know this is normal and i have never had a problem with my turbos. my turbos have been this way ever since ive had the car (now im at 15k miles) they still seem fine. oddly enough, none of my friends' s4s have had this (not sure i should it a problem) noise.

I don't know if that is bs or what. I just want to make sure I have it recorded that I went in for it earlier. I guess, purchase and aftermarker extended warranty.

My previous car was an Eclipse GSX, and while you could hear the turbo whine it was not anywhere near as loud as my S4. I've been hearing that noise since I bought the S4 in Jan. 2000. While the whine is loud, it does nt sound abnormal to me.
