Twin-GT28rs kit for the S4... I drove a 1.8T GT28RS yesterday, some reaction...
I had the chance to drive a 1.8T GT28RS (0.63/0.71) yesterday, boosting at 25PSI and it gives me an idea on how it would be on a 2.7T.
If the future/potentially coming twin-GT28rs has the same drivability, I would simply pass on the offer. The turbo lag is huge but when the boost kicks in, it really pulls. Perfect for a drag car or a highway monster. However for a daily driver, it's simply horrible ; the car doesn't move before 5000rpm and feels like a boulder. After 5000rpm, the party begins! It depends on what kind of driver you are at the end... I think I have been spoiled too much with the low-end torque of our S4 ; I can't return back, low-end torque is my friend.
Simple math (correct me if I'm wrong): 1.8L of displacement for one GT28RS compared to 1.35L of displacement fot a twin-GT28rs setup for our car = even higher lag. Conclusion : Pass for me.
GT25 / K04/K24 are certainly more adequate for a daily driver usage...

PUshing 28lbs on a T28 is really pushing it.
You're not getting maximum performance on a T28. That turbo won't live long.
For high end power, T03 or bigger would be best...too bad they won't fit in our engine bay.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The 28rs's(or bigger!) are
a great turbo for someone who will modify the motor. The lag would be less of an issue if we raised the rev limit to 8k or so. That 1krpm loss down low would be made up for up top. But at those rpms you're looking at mechanical cams/lifters, rods, and sundry other items.
The gt25s are nothing special outside of the a/r options, since the compressor wheel isn't all that. There's been an image of the gt25 and k16 overlayed maps posted before and its basically a wash. Probably more reliable however.
When is your k24 car gonna be done?

Ask Mark @ Autospeed! I'm waiting for my Exhaust Manifolds!
(Subliminal Message to Mark : !sdlofinam esoht deen I)
Mark has to produce them (this week), send send them out (to Alabama or somewhere) for Swaintech coating (Thermal barrier) and then rush them to me.
It's been 4 months (April 2005) now I don't have the S4. I just hope it's gonna be before Christmas now... Honestly, I think it will be fast after, as I have everything except a pump from Piggie... so potentially end of August now. (or "two weeks" like they say).

The GT25 compressor wheels I saw was a bit larger (+ bigger inlet) vs. K04/K24
It's a good difference if you ask me... but before talking, I wish to see both in action.
