Default UCC short shifter questions

Just wondering what the short shifter does to the feel of shifting? My other car is a Civic Si, and while it does not compare in performance to the S4, shifing is so smooth in the Si. Will the UCC short shifter help out in that respect? Also, would I risk any warranty trouble from the dealer for just installing a short shifter? Thanks for helping out a newbie.

Default I too have a civic and the S4

And I installed a neuspeed SS into the civic and noticed that the throws are short and smooth. It isn't as "notchy" as my S4 with UUC SS. Even at 20%.
This is because the Civic is connected directly to the tranny while the S4 has links.
I like the UUC product but the install has to be done correctly inorder for it to be precise and smooth.
Many have enjoyed the throws at 40%, myself included, but I had problems at the track so I'm back to 20%.
The throws will be much nicer and your warranty would not be jeopardized because you can just take it out.
