Update on coolant loss, help!!
I checked the PCV valve for the sludge and there was a brown film on it. I also checked the oil cap and there was a little there too. I looked for a coolant leak under the IM but didn't see anything. Tomorrow I will check under the engine for any sign of coolant leaking external but its not looking good. The worst part is my wifes car is in for service and we are leaving tomorrow afternoon for an 800 mile drive then in a week 800 miles back. If the coolant is getting in the oil my engine and K04's are fu!*ed. I guess I will just change the oil when I get ther then again when I get back. Where is the usual spot that the coolant gets into the oil, head gasket?? If the engine is fu$#ed when I get back is it better to just buy another engine and rebuild it or tear this one down and rebuild with big power internals?

Take the IM off and double check coolant afterrun pump
It's quite a common one, really. Otherwise, heat exchanger for water/oil on the oil filter bracket is also known for letting oil and coolant mix, but usually it's oil in coolant AFAIK.

A west coast trip is in the works for this year, yeah...
Dunno yet when for other areas though...
BTW, order 2 new IM gaskets when you pull it, they only cost pennies and it's much preferable to replace them.
