update to my starting issue - terminal 30 code
I posted a while back regarding my car having intermittent starting problems. I ruled out the battery (replaced), clutch position sensor, and the basic grounds.. the battery light still flickers once in a while for split of a second when I accelerate/let go of the gas pedal.
Vag-com from another s4 owner gave me one code - power supply terminal 30 - voltage too low. Where should I be checking for this? I checked the ones under the kickpanel where the x75 sits, etc.. Didn't notice anything out of the ordinary and made sure everything was tight.
It is very intermittent and it seems that I almost need to let the car sit for a while after driving in order for it to start. and maybe its just me, but this **** is almost guaranteed if its raining out. Any ideas? tia

iirc that's just the standard code when you're vehicle's battery voltage is low
as far as your starting issue have you looked at the alternator at all?
does the car crank when you're having the issue or just no response with key in the start position?

clutch in- one click, and clutch out - another click. other than that, nothing
no cranking or anything... and other times it will fire right up. the battery is brand new btw

i would almost bet it's a starter going bad, but your battery light throws me off.
Heres where i would start:
trigger wire secure on the starter
test starter
ignition switch
alternator
good luck

Fixed A Similar Issue Today
I had the same problem. Intermittent starting that turned into no starting at all. Battery, alternator, clutch switch were all ok. Had the same power supply terminal 30 low voltage code. Thanks to this forum I checked the ground cable for the starter this morning and it was loose. Tightened it up and the car started up right away and has been fine since. Here is what it looks like. View from the ground up. Behind the alternator, Undo the passenger side of the black plastic bottom engine cover and you can get to it. I think it was a 10mm nut.
