I would never buy used turbos from someone unless I was going to have them rebuilt...
too risky otherwise. Heck, if I even bought a used BBK from someone I'd buy new rotor rings. For the important parts, it pays not to skimp. Anyway, look at it this way, you'll have a better setup with K04 hybrids now via Blouch.

I'm not bitching. It's the risk you take when you purchase something used.
I'm just sharing my story for those who are also considering used turbos. I see "no shaft play" advertised a lot, but wouldn't trust it unless you can inspect the turbos yourself; that's all.
I'm not throwing around the name of the person that sold them, nor am I naming the reputable shop that "supposedly" inspected them (and I did call this shop asking about the seller). I could email him asking what's up with this, but my experience as shown me nothing constructive would come of it. I don't consider this bitching, but you're entitled to your opinions I guess.
As for the play dimensions, I posted them in my response to S4lorn.
