Used Oil Analysis.. 7,500 miles on Amsoil

Magnesium is sometimes used as an oil additive...
That is the case with AMSOIL. Other oils, like Redline, use high amounts of Molybdenum. AFAIK tests done where AMSOIL was only ever used show 0 or 1 ppm Molybdenum.

Cool! It looks like most of the synthetic oils allow for pretty long intervals.
I got 7571 miles out of my last batch of Mobil 1 with an equally positive analysis. Sounds like they're all pretty equal.

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/1667932.phtml</a

That's great, thanks Greg. I still plan to change my Amsoil roughly every 5K, but I have gone longer
I went almost 8K once and was a bit concerned so it's nice to know that I didn't damage anything.

I don't think there's a problem with 7.5 considering the factory interval is 10k
As it gets older, I'll drop it down to 5k, but 3K on synth is just waisting money.

brian, just run the analysis next time you change the oil, its a good for the mind...
I can bring you an extra container Saturday, as Steve wants to get one done as well...for $20, you can't really go wrong here....
