Used Turbos
Does anyone know if there is any value in picking up a set of used 2001 K03s? I have a 2000 S4 with the old turbos and thought that it might not be a bad idea to have some spares just in case. Are there any problems with just storing them for a while?

The expense and difficulty associated with blown turbos is mostly labor -- they are damn hard to get to on the S4 and it's a couple days worth of tedious work. Having a spare set of turbos on hand doesn't add much value, IMO.
I'd agree it'd be better to go with K04's if you have to replace 'em, though then you need a new chip, etc.

The price on these are extremely low ($300) so it made me think that this might not be a bad idea. Still not sure but would have to pull trigger pretty quick if I decided to purchase.

They were the ones on Ebay but sadly ... that train has sailed. They went for $511 which was much more than I wanted to pay for them. Oh well, at least I have an excuse to get the K04s if my k03s go bad.

I don't think it's a good idea
imagine paying all that labor and them not functioning properly. This is a risk with new ones as well. Seems your risk could increase with used ones.
