UUC shortshifter 40% install problem

Hey, I recently purchased the 20,30,40 UUC shifter sometime in March and installing it with the 40% setting was TERRIBLE compared to the 20 & 30 settings, plus it squeaks against the rubber insulation mat below the lever/linkage mate. I installed it properly, it's just the way it fits at that setting.
Anyone know if they revised this? Everyone who gets in my car always asks me why my shifter squeaks. There are a couple of cures for this w/o modifying the shifter. You can use some damping grease to get rid of the squeaking, but obviously the contact is still there.

I noticed that UUC now offers a shifter for pre and post February build dates for the S4. I bet they revised the shifter..

My car is a 01/01 build date and had the canted pivot and needed the later model shifter..
Don't go by the UUC cut off date or VIN, they are wrong. If your original shifter has a canted pivot then you need the later model.
The grooves in both models are in the same place,
mine did not rub with the older style shifter installed @40%. so you might have a different problem.

otherwise, if UUC won't give me an updated part I'll just have to live with it. Sometimes it's hard to hear with the exhaust anyway, especially with windows down.
Take it easy,

Hey thanks for the photos. I have the same setup as you (mine's 12/00). Got the old shifter in front of me now. I have to double check which version they sent me, but I recall having the correct one, now that I look at the pictures and my old shifter. I was also missing that little delrin bushing that slides into the lever, but they sent me a replacement. It's not like I didn't know what I was doing when I installed it, because I just do not see any way around this rubbing problem when shifting around 2nd gear and reverse also, I think. At least alot of people aren't having this problem.
Thanks again,
MIKE
