I flew to San Diego (From Chicago) and rented a car to drive up the Pacific Coast Highway (HWY1). Stayed with a friend in LA a couple of nights and then departed north. Rented a yellow mustang convertible and since we took the scenic route along the coast, my girlfriend and I were trying to make some time up for a 2pm winery visit in Napa Valley. So we are cruising about 85ish on an empty road. The other automobile on the highway was a truck doing about 80 that we had recently passed up. The V1 blipped a very faint K signal, and I lightly applied the brakes. The truck starts to overtake us a bit as we slowed down. A half mile later, a stronger K signal... at this point I am doing about 75ish, and the truck pulls far ahead of me. Then, over the crest of the hill - BINGO. The bacon pounces on the unsuspecting truck - DUNNNNNNN. The V1 smelled the bacon out a good 2-3 miles before the point of attack! Saved my a$$ about a Hundo and a big headache. Well, just wanted to share the story in case anyone is still having reservations about purchasing a V1- get it, it's the best. Oh yeah the S4 related stuff... The Mustang GT convertible we rented, although exceeding my expectations for a domestic, is hurrrting compared to the S. Made me re-appreciate the virtues of fine German engineering. The "Stang's" chasis felt like it was held together by rubber bands, steering was floaty at high speeds, brakes are squishy and not confidence-inspiring, interior seemed built from used straws and plastic 2-liters, the list goes on.
