Default Vag-COM help request from first try-out

From what I can tell I need:
-Coolant sensor
-New O2 sensor in front of passenger side cat

Can someone help me with the rest? STFA but not sure if there are connections between system too lean and secondary air injection system. If so, what to do?

Thanks!

Default air injection codes

The air injection codes can come from bad vac lines leading to the air injection valves. They are mounted to the back of each cylinder head near the fire wall and are disk shaped A vac leak may also explain the lean codes.

Default Thanks, is there a write up on checking for leaks myself or

do I have to bring it in? Does this mean replacing some vacume lines or is it more than that?

Thanks!

Default You could check yourself

Just look down in the space between the back of the engine and the firewall. Find the valves (about 2" dia metal disk) and look for broken or rotted vac hoses leading to them. My A4 2.8 had this problem and the vac line was broken where it entered the valve. It was very obvious.

Don't know if there's a write up. You mite want to try searching this forum and the B5A4 forum for secondary air injection to get more info. Tip S4's and 2.8 A4's have similar systems.

Default COuld it be the vaccum check valve, since both banks have insufficent flow?

Not sure, but would be a coincidence to have leaks in both lines and makes me think it is the vacuum check valve connecting both sides.

Comments welcome

Default On my a4, both hoses were toast

Since hoses are alot cheaper to replace than check valves, I suggest taking a look at them first. If they are ok, move on to other stuff. I've heard about some pump failures also. Not sure what exact code a bad pump would throw.
