I heard that this one is compatible and is only $30!!

On what hardware? Different HW, different drivers.
I just want to find one that works w/ my Sony!
I've spent $30-$100 several times trying to get the USB2.0-->RS232 working.
BTW, there is protocol changes USBx.x-->RS232-->?
