Default VAG Group Buy - Link & Info

I worked with Todd Sager at AWE and arranged a VAG Tool Group Buy for $170 with free shipping. When you include the shipping this is about a 20% discount (enough for me to get off the fence). We need 25 people to particpate in order to qualify for the discount. How it works is you go to the URL below, order and then once 25 orders have been submitted they will process and ship. Please pass this URL along to other Audi owners and groups you know so we can hit the 25 and get things shipped quickly!

*Note, I am not the person to ask about VAG specifics (obviously don't own one yet <g&gt but post your questions here on AudiWorld and I can pass anything the forum guru's can't answer on to Todd at AWE.

Default I highly recommend this tool for those of you that don't have it...

Expecially since a lot of warranties are up now. Keep in mind most dealers charge $60-$90 just to hook up a cable!

Default Ebay.. Any laptop that can run windows 95 basically.

You really don't need much... I'd imagine you could pick up a $100 laptop that would work..

Default Cable question: Does VAG-COM require parallel port, or USB (m)...?

My laptops only have USB.

If parallel is required, do any of you use the VAG-COM with a parallel-to-USB adapter, with good results?

TIA,

- Lee

Default Re: Anyone have suggestions on where I could pickup a CHEAP laptop for this?

I just bought my wife a nice Thinkpad 600E P2 366 at www.tigerdirect.com for $550. These are previous leased machines through IBM being refurbished and certified for 90 days. I had a 600E back in the day and they are great machines. I'm adding 256 MB of memory ($75) and a wireless 802.11 card ($50), makes a nice solid laptop ready to do 99% of everything my wife will ever be doing. Should work nicely as a VAG tool machine (they have some for $450 also)

TigerDirect

Default Quick question about something I don't know much about..

If you use the tool to diagnose a problem, will this erase the codes from your ECU? Would a dealer still be able to identify the problem if I use the tool? If the dealer finds out that I used the tool, would they not address the issue or would it void any warranties?

Thanks for help
