My check engine light is on so I plan to buy a VAG to see what the problem is. I am assuming I can get some kind of error code, but then what?
Do I just take it to a dealer and tell them I am geting a **** error code or can I actually fix some things with the VAG?
Any info would be great THANKS!!!!

You get the code from the Engine module.
You then bring it here to AW, and do a search for the engine code number. I'm sure most of them have been entered here before. You can use Google as well to search for it. You will find lots of information, and some possible suggestions for fix.
If you can't find it, post it here to see if anyone knows anything about it.
Then go to dealership and see what's up!!! They can see what you see, and sometimes don't know what it means either.

you can read the codes, and look at readings from various sensors real time if you wish. Ultimately, you won't fix anything with it...it will just help you zero in on the problem.
As for what to do with the codes you retrieve, you can search for AW on more information/experiences related to that particular code. That will usually give you a ton of information.
