Vagcom question...
I am trying to get my vagcom to work again...new laptop. I have installed the cable on the computer, but cant get it to connect to the car in vagcom or lemmiwinks. Piggiesmalls helped me with it last time, and I remember it involved changing some port settings...can someone enlighten me on this?

your 'question' isnt really a question and its rather vague.
You probably need to go thru the initial setup and configure the proper port. Is this a USB or Serial cable? Are you running the appropriate version?

It's usb, not a ross-tech one though...I remember last time it had something to do
with going into the device manager and changing some ports to make them match or something?

correct
you have to install a seperate driver for the specific port you want to run lemmiwinks off of. the driver (commonly linked on this forum, search) emulates a com port (required by lemmiwinks as much as ive bitched to them asking for usb support). this lets lemmiwinks work off the emulated com port. then when you want to do ecux or vagcom (which will only cooperate if you use a pre version 5 vagcom driver due to the usb driver) you run that off a seperate driver and port that maps to the actual *dongle* ie vagcom cable of your choosing.
as an example.... i have a ****ty ebay laptop with one usb port. i HAD to use a usb switch in order to use multiple ports. i have lemmiwinks running off port 3. the driver i FORCED it to use emulates a com port and lemmiwinks is happy. when i want to run ecux or vagcom i MUST unplug the cable from port 3 and plug into port 4 which i have again FORCED to use the older vagcom usb cable driver.
ill follow up with any questions, its frankly retarded to make work but it will with patience.
