I just wanted to let you guys know that the latest firmware upgrade from Valentine, (called v1.8-POP2), apparently addes more than just POP. I picked up a standard, brand new v1.8 at the Socal GTG a couple of weeks ago, and sent it and $55 to have it upgraded. (Yes... I scored a brand new unit from AMS for $200 because the raffle winner was suffering from cluelessness.)

Anyway, the latses additional features, on top of v1.8 are described as follows:

1) Full Coverage on POP
V1 covers POP on two bands -- specifically the MPH Industries models BEE III (Ka band) and Enforcer (K and Ka). There's nothing you must do to activate POP coverage. It's build in, and it operates full time.

2) A New Warning
V1 has a new feature. When the signal-identification system determines that the current warning is NOT, in fact, a rader threat, it notifies you with "dee-dah-doo" sound and terminates the warning. At the same time, the letter "J" will flash briefly in the Bogey Counter.

Anyway, I sent the unit last Thursday, Express Mail from LA, and received it back this morning. It doesn't take long.

to see if I needed an upgrade. After I entered my serial number they said there were no newer upgrades available, and that I had the most up-to-date version. Do I still need to send it in to get the POP stuff?

If it's not v1.8-POP2, it can be upgraded.

I put my serial # in also and it says that its the lastest & I know its not.

I think it just says 1.8....no mention of the POP upgrade. I think I'll just call them.

Also, if your V1 does aleady have POP, it will display P...O...P during the last part of the power on self check.

Prior to the upgrade, the checker just said V1.8 and recommended the upgrade, at a price of $55.

sounds like I have the old version of 1.8....I've never seen the POP during the power on self check. Thanks for the clarification.
