its not all that fun even with the correct tool
the tool works very well but those damn keepers are still a royal PITA

Nothing has quite struck as much automotive fear as when I was trying to remove the keepers
with a magnet -- hoping the cheap pcv pipe doesn't pop off the compressor and smash me in the face/eye.
That set up you guys got there looks way safer.
