Here's my dilemma. I'm impatient to chip my 2001 H-box S4 (yeah, I know...old sig). Originally I planned on keeping the stock ECU stock and chipping a new ECU. My local tuner doesn't have any spare ECU's and I'm not about to go to my dealer and ask for one. Will it be more risky to chip my current ECU and mail order a new ECU to keep stock? Will the dealer instantly know that the new stock ECU wasn't the one that came with the car? The dealer I (will) go to has never seen the car before. Thanks.

there is also a workshop code on your ECU that identifies the dealer who last worked on your car. You would want that to match up as well.

1.5 years or 7k miles...I'd say probably a year before I go over on mileage. The car is stock and was babied for the first 40k miles. I'll purchase an aftermarket warranty before the Audi one expires, and I'll bet they won't be so creative to find out whether a car is chipped if it always comes back with a stock ECU. Thanks for the advice guys.
