thanks for your advice guys..
My mechanic managed to get it going.. draining 2 gallons of water from my engine !! Changing oil, (there was lots of water in the oil). Taking out spark plugs.. vaccum pumped water out of the cylinders. Emptying intercoolers ( they were filled up). they said water must have came threw my exhaust as well as my intake..
anyways they charged me $450 dollars.. not bad but not cheap.. better than having to get an new engine..I learned my lesson.. you see heavy rain, dont drive the S4..
Its running stronger than ever now, for some odd reason, but idle is a lil rough and the inside of my car stinks like rotten rain..

In a sense, it is fortunate that there was so much water that you were never able to get it started. If there had been less water so that you could have fired it up and then it had hydrolocked then the engine would have been ruined.
You still aren't totally out of the woods yet. The rough idle *could* be a sign of an internal problem. Presumably they checked the compression? In any event, I guess at this point that you can just run it and see what happens.

It wouldn't bend the valves as the water would be pressing up on the closed valves. They would be fine.
What it might do is mildly bend the connecting rods. The engine would still run with a slightly bent connecting rod but obviously it would be weakend and could break at any time. The reason this might show up as an idle problem is that the compression and balance of the engine would be off. That's why I asked if the compression had been checked. At higher RPM the difference probably wouldn't be noticed.
