The warm up time for our Turbos is really annoying...

how long do you keep your rev down at when the oil temperature is below 170? (I try to keep it below 2k)
Because of the long a$$ warm up time for the turbos every morning, by the time I get to my destination, it's time to shut it down. That, we are talking about couple min after the coolant temp. is up and I actually get the heater to start working..then, shut down right away.
sigh...
anything I can do beside being patient?!

at around 1800rpm. So, better keep the boost low and blahblah...
well, better safe than sorry.
sigh~
worst is in the winter time, the oil temp needle is like...broken. that **** don't move for like 5 min straight.

The car won't build boost if you don't give it too much gas so you can rev it to 3-4k no problem. And yes waiting for the oil temp to rise is the most annoying thing about this car. Sometimes I dream about e46 M3s because of this.

so as long as you're not redlining the car when its cold, you're not required to shift at 2000 rpm. Just keep off the throttle to avoid going into boost until you get to about 175 F and you'll be fine.

a little bit of boost will go a long way to heating the oil. let's be realistic, do you think audi expects the average S4 driver to wait for the f'ing oil temp before the turbos start spoooling? the avg S4 owner does not know dick about that and does not visit the AW fourm. just get into the boost a little once you have coolant temp and you'll be just fine.

I generally drive really "calmly" until the coolant temp is at norm, then I get on it a bit more until oil temp moves off 150... at which point the throttle is constantly buried ![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
My turbos have lasted 50200 miles so far... so I must be doing SOMETHING right? ;-)
That, or I'm just DAMNED LUCKY? ;-)

really have to put your foot down to get into positive pressure territory. Turbos will still make all the normal noises... still takes a heavy foot to make boost though.
