Try a mild solvent like Rain X, then wax the area of the paint you used the Rain X on afterward. If the ones on the window are really stubborn, use a light duty steel wool with water. These solutions have worked for me everytime.

wouldn't use that on the paint. My carnuba made an improvement on the water spots. Try that first. If not I would assume you have or will have swirls to get rid of and the usual treatment for that should take care of water spots.

understand your question. As for the other guy who would never get steel wool near his car... it is something only the brave, attention-to-detail person should attmept. If you are an uncoordinated klutz with club hands, I would not go near my car with steel wool either. Honestly though, it sounds like vinegar might work best, and if that don't work, break out the steel wool.

it's milder than Bug & Tar Remover. Believe me, it's okay and will even remove other peoples bumper and paint residue w/o having to use any much harsher polishing componds!!! Just wax the area afterward as it will strip waxes.
Rain X is dope and much more versitile than just a windshield application.
