Default With that pad be prepared to change rotors frequently, for fluid, SRF is

the only game in town if you are serious.

Default Sounds like a sweet event!

As far as going off is concerned, one of the best ways to learn the limits is to exceed them in a "safe" environment. Scaling back is sometimes simpler and psychologically easier than pushing forward.

As others have said, sounds like you likely boiled the fluid. I've been running Motul 600 with Ferodo DS3000's and PFC01's and both setups have been nice for this K04'd 4200LB A6....

Glad to see more and more posts about your track adventures... it really is too much fun, ain't it!

Default SRF has lower dry boiling point that Motul RBF600. Wet boiling point is not as important to me...

I'm nowhere near the limit in wet conditions, or to rephrase...I'm even further from the limit in wet conditions than I am in dry conditions.

Default Castrol SRF says 590F dry boiling point on Nyet's Wiki link. Yes, I'm an idiot re: wet boiling pt.

Thanks for pointing that out. As Morgan mentioned I'm operating on a major lack of sleep right now so that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

From Nye's link: Castrol SRF has 590F dry boiling point and 518F wet boiling point whereas Motul RBF600 has 593F dry boiling point and 420F wet boiling point.

I gess that's my cue to go to sleep, will check back in the morning.

Default Forget the dry boiling point. By nature once you heat up the brakes (espec. race pads).

on the track you will introduce moisture to the fluid which will result in what you were experiencing today. The higher wet boiling point the better because it is able to cope with the moisture better and requires less bleeds between or before sessions. SRF outshines and outperformes every other fluid on the track but it comes at a price, ~ $75 a bottle . It is the best buck you will ever spend on the brake system.

Default I just got done with some 3000s and hated them. Big skip, IMO.

I replaced with Pagid Black and like them so far. My favorites are still the Cobalts, but they're still not available, AFAIK.

Default Great write-up. Was that your first OTE? As for fluid, go with the RBF600.

For pads, if you can get the Cobalts, go with them. Otherwise, I'm liking my Pagid Blacks so far.

Default Take the 97's over the 01's....01's are aggressive. Run RBF600 fluid. I'll let you know

how it works out for the next run at T-Hill. Thanks for the book...you REALLY must have a lot of time on your hands to log all the freakin' time and do track events and type novels about it! ;-) (alcohol talk) Oh...S8 rears=upgrade and it IS brake fade! It IS NOT THE FLUID! I get brake fade..of course it sounds like I drive harder at the track. Hence the reason why I should've possibly went with Alcons. Unfortunately $$$ IS and issue...PEACE
