weird sound at start-up. . .almost sounds like a duck quacking . .please help!!
I just noticed that my 2000 is making a weird sound at start-up.
I can't really describe it in any other way than a duck quacking. It seems to last for only a few minutes, but it really sounds terrible.
I am in Dallas, TX where the winter has been really moderate and the S4 is parked in my garage every night. It is probably only in the 50's outside so I don't think it is the cold.
Any ideas? I wondering if I should take her in ASAP?
Thanks,
Rodney

Could be your power steering pump. Fluid is probably low.
I had the same noise earlier this year. Would only happen when the car was cold in the morning and would go away after a few minutes. My fluid was very low. I added some and the noise went away. I will have the pump checked for a leak at my next service.

i've heard this a couple of times. how do you check the PS fluid level?
i'll RTFM tomorrow, but in case anyone is up.

The power steering fluid reservoir is right behind the drivers side head light.
It has a green cap. Unscrew the cap, there is a dipstick attached to it with min / max levels.
