One of the downsides to the K04's is the time it takes for them to spool up, correct? If so, would it be possible to replace one of the turbos with a K04 and keep the other stock K03. My theory is that the '03 would spool up quicker, then the '04 would take over.
Could this be done without causing damage?
Has anyone tried this?
Does my theory have any merit?
What would be the positive/negative aspects?

It is like 400rmp difference or something. And, since our turbos are a sycronized bi-turbo setup, you couldn't do what your talking about unless you converted to a sequential setup. Lots O' $$$$$$......

Our cars are Bi-turbo, which simply means that both turbos work in unison, providing equal boost to each cylinder bank of the V6. You see the Bi-turbo design with V6 and V8 engines, and flat 6 (porsche) designed engines. Sequential turbo systems are on inline 6 engines, like the Supra turbo.

point, and go from there - they are merely powered by each bank. Could this be done? Probably - will you have strange issues? Probably. I would just upgrade both turbos - if you remove one of the K03s, you're lessening your quick spool up slightly anyways, you'll be between a K04 and K03, and the top end you're only going to see small gains also. Not to mention the messed up EGTs you'd have, one bank would be hot, one would be cooler - this would probably play some serious havoc with the bosch system - though I don't know. Put two k04s in :-P 400rpm is not a bad trade off.
