Default Well, I got my first NJ speeding ticket this morning! First thing I'll say is NEVER pass a

completely blacked-out Marauder. Rt 80, I'm going 80 (limit is 55 but I always go 80 when I can) in the left lane and come up to a pitch black midnight-a$$ Marauder. I didn't notice the antennas. I slowed down, looked over and thought, "eh, it's probably some kid". I resumed 80mph, and eventually he pulled me over.

Nice officer, gave me a 69mph in a 55 zone so that it's only 2 points (instead of 5) and said if there is a problem with the points, talk to the prosecutor and they can usually change it to something else and drop the points completely (it's all about the cash). Just call the phone number on the back.

My only question is that on the ticket, under the "Other traffic/Parking Offense" section is says:

"80 LL 3/4" or "80 cc 3/4"

Any clue what this means?

In 11 years of driving, I got a speeding ticket in South Carolina YEARS many years ago, and now this.

Default Question . . . do you have a radar detector?

I hate points too . . . :-(

Two points won't affect your insurance though.

Default Are you 100% sure it was a Marauder?

Did it have an undercover light package? They almost always use the cheaper Ford. If you're sure it was a Marauder, and it didn't have lights, then it was likely just a guy on his way into work. Sucks man.

Default Can you legally be paced by a Marauder? All Interceptor's speedometers are labelled

"certified calibration" or something like that. AFAIK that's a Crown Vic Police Interceptor thing and Mercurys can't be spec'd with those.

Default could also be Rt "80" in the "Left Lane"

does it list the location somewhere else on the ticket?

FYI, I have received a ticket before where the officer ticketed me for something under what he pulled me over for - he wrote the actual speed off to the side, likely as a note so he (and I) would remember (should I go to fight it)

Default My guess is yes.

I've seen officers note the "actual" offense on the ticket, so the officer and the prosecutor know if you've been given a break already. Though that doesn't quite make sense in this case, since he pretty much told you to go to court and knock it down some more.

Default Hahahha ... yes, sometimes it is better to say nothing. :-p

FWIW, these days I consider the unmarked car to be biggest risk. Now that they're starting to use all sorts of different cars it gets harder to spot them. The one givaway is a bunch of antennas. That's the only thing they cannot really hide.

Default It doesn't take a lot to callibrate a speedo

Especially today with GPS technology it is really easy to check and certify the speedo.
