Default A lot of guys recommend doing the timing belt dampner too.

I did it when I did my timing belt service.<ul><li><a href="http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/pagebuild_v2.cgi?make=Audi&amp;engine=2.7T&amp;mod el=B5%20S4&amp;submodel=&amp;category=Engine">Scro ll down to OE Timing Belt Dampner</a></li></ul>

Default Woo, wait. ECS Ultimate setup came with the same gasket as factory on mine. Dealer gasket I bought

in addition was the metal type(which I actually prefer) but it screwed up the torque settings when I put it on and I ended up shearing a bolt and stretching 2 others trying to get a consistent 10nm across the bolts. Ended up having to use the paper one and it torqued right up. Only have 20-30mi on the car so far but no leaks anywhere. Guess time will tell... other gasket had ~53K on it and was dry all the way around.

picked up oem one which was at least twice as thick IMO. didn't have any problems torquing to 7ft-lbs though

Default Lol, wondering how many gaskets are out there for these...

Factory gasket was 3mm paper, ECS was the same. Dealer replacement gasket was 3 ridge stamped metal. Go figure.

Default Probably special one time use stretch bolts for the metal gasket, normal for the paper :P

Given how many countries the audi V6s have been used in, I'm sure there are many many offbrand "central euro autozone" water pump parts/styles floating around

Default All I know is I almost pooped when I broke one of the stock bolts trying to get 10nm on a

metal gasket. Stretched a few others too. Sat there pondering the situation for a few minutes afterward as well lol. Luckily the broken part screwed right out with the fingers(after removing the wpump). 9 new bolts from Fastenal an hour later and I was back in my s-l-o-w build process =-)

Hope you guys are well up there...
