Default What is the best RPM range to shift at?

Do you redline it to get the best acceleration or do you shift lower? I heard something that if you shift at like 6000rpm it's better for maximun performance....something like that....any thoughts?

Default I'd say 4500

As long as your in the 0-7000 range, you're ok :

Default Actually, a bit later than that for maximum acceleration...

For best accelleration, you want to maximize torque at the wheels. Because a higher gear reduces drive wheel torque, you should go past the torque peak before upshifting. For example, if 4th gear is 20% taller than 3rd gear you should remain in 3rd gear until the point where the torque curve (crank) has fallen 20%.

This is a longwinded way of saying "Don't forget about the mechanical advantage from a lower gear".
