Default what is the best way to clean the threads on coilovers??(M)

I got a used set from a friend and the threads are a bit corroded. So the sleeve is a little tight and wont turn so what should i do?? TIA

Default No experience here, but I'd try this.

Clean off the exposed threads with a can of starting fluid and a copper bristle brush if they are full of crud.

Use penetrating oil to break loose the collar, if the threads are still crappy, use a lot of lube/tap oil and gently run the collar up and down the threads, back off and clean up the chunks and try again if it starts to bind too much.

I use WD40 and a wire brush(cover your brakes if they are on the car)
