I believe it's somewhere around 10 or 11/99, mine is a 10 and has alum.

Default 7/99 build here w/ aluminum. It was pretty random for a few months who got aluminum.
It was quite the controversy back then...

Default The big controversy was the Audi promotional material said they had aluminum
suspension components to reduce weight. People got pissed when the uprights were no longer aluminum and wanted to get a class action suit together. I highly doubt most people can tell the performance difference and I doubt aluminum uprights was their decision to buy the car.

Default Yeah, they're not really 'that' much lighter anyway. If you've held an aluminum in one hand and a
steel in the other, you would wonder what all the fuss is about. I'm not saying the aluminums aren't 'cool' but not worth the money for the weight savings.
