What do you guys think? 17x8.5 wheels, should I go with 225/45/17 or 235/40/17?

Default Depends on the tire....I have 225/45/17 BFG KDW2s on my 8.5 SSRs

They are wider than most tires, and fit them nicely.

Default I was thinking ES100 or Kumho MXs.

I was hoping to go 245/40/17, but with a fender gap of 25.25" I think they'll rub even with fender rolling.

Default comparison vs. stock and wider options for 17's...

Spec Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
225/45-17 4.0in 12.5in 25.0in 78.5in 808 0.0%
235/45-17 4.2in 12.7in 25.3in 79.6in 796 1.4%
245/40-17 3.9in 12.4in 24.7in 77.6in 816 -1.0%
255/40-17 4.0in 12.5in 25.0in 78.6in 806 0.2%

i'd run the 245/40 as they're close, but a little shorter which will help with the lower ride height. Unless you have an inch of fender room on the outboard side, then go 255's.

Default Even if it does, you can roll fenders a little bit...

...while 245/40-17's are quite a bit wider than stock, they're also a little bit shorter, giving you more room. Hell, I was trying to squeeze 245/40-<b>18</b>'s under mine.

Default I'm still waiting for a darn Mich. PS PS2 in 245/30YR-19

I think that would be the perfect "big wheel" size for us. 99.3% of stock diamet. roll the front fenders a bit and it would probably be a perfect fit.

Don't do the ES100s.
