What do you tell a date when you have to let the turbos cool

Default Probably not good to come across as an **** car nerd, so just shut it down. The car will survive ;-)

That said, I agree with everyone else... don't boost for the last few minutes of the drive and you'll be fine. Turbos are water cooled, so as long as they aren't glowing hot, they'll be fine. I never idle my car to cool it down unless I was really beating on it.

Plus the coolant heats up while you are idling.

Default Coolant shouldn't be heating up at idle... unless you have a problem

But underhood temps will increase if you idle it since you don't have air moving in and out of the engine bay.

Default Ive heard mixed opinions on turbo timers and i couldnt trust to walk away

from a running car

Default Coolant will heat up at idle (i mean not moving)

because there is reduced airflow through the radiator (only from the fan).
