Default Its ok, I dont claim to be an expert or even to know what the hell Im talking about half the time.

I did STFA before posting earlier and got different answers ranging from 17% to 25% (which seems a bit high to me) but I never found an answer as to why it takes more hp to push the drive train when the car is modified to put out more power. My confusion is made worse by the fact an EVO tuning shop told me that the loss doesn't change with a power increase meaning that the % of loss is not constant and thus contradicts ALL of the answers I have seen here.

Every dyno is different. You need to know what a stock S4 puts down on that dyno and convert.

Default audi says dtl is around 28%, keeping in mind they use a maha

yes, you lose more HP as crank goes up

Default Dunno, I made them up. My guess is as good as anyone elses though.

As for why it requires the extra 30 extra hp to speed up the drivetrain from your example the 30 extra hp is required because you are accelerating it quicker than you were before.

Default What makes you think it's a constant percentage?

Drivetrain losses, etc., should be more or less constant for given conditions, no?

Default first order linear approximation is pretty good

parasitic transmission drag is fairly linear with power output.

most dynos are so inaccurate that higher order terms are lost in the noise
