I'm putting together a tool kit for my car and am wondering what other people have. Here's what I got so far:
- Vag com cord
- zip ties
- duct tape
- variety of worm clamps
- small rolled up metric open/box end wrench set
- small quarter drive socket set
- screw driver with variety of bits plus required torx bits
- jumper cables
- two quarts of mobile1 in CD changer compartment
Outdoor sports takes me to a lot of remote areas and I would hate to get stranded there, especially if I could have fixed the problem. I doubt I would ever need them, but better to be prepared. I was thinking of putting all this stuff in the spare tire compartment. Is this overkill? Any other places in an avant that people have utilized?

I keep the code-reader in the right side pocket of
the boot, tangle up with the elastic cargo net so
that it does not move around.
The torque wrench is held with a bungee on the spare
under the boot's floor.
I do not see having anything else that is useful for
a car with as complex components as this one. Some
people keep a VAG cable and laptop. Some have a carputer,
which takes care of the above and more.

Just the cable does you no good with out a laptop, if you are counting on someone elses laptop you don't have the software. So i'd at least keep a copy of the vag-com software with you if you don't have a dedicated lap top.

Not the jack or jack stands, but pretty much any of the other ones I use while at the track. Its really handy.
Of course, carrying around almost 100 pounds of extra weight in the back isn't for everyone.
