It won't be Audi. Who would pay 40 grand for an A4?
The B5 S4 was at least a 15 grand premium over the A4, yet on resale, it's not far off. I would have been better off getting into an A4 1.8T and going stage 3.
There's a reason there's been a handful of RS6 and B6 S4s at my dealer for months. They are too overpriced for what you get.

yes indeed, Audi made a comeback for a variey of reasons, but I predict their demise
My best man got a 1999 A4 for low 20's, great value. They make a name for themselves with the B5 platform, put out the B5 S4, a great car, but completely whiffed on the design side, costing Audi a ****load in warranty and the consumer a ****load in repairs and market value. Then they come out with the B6 and other updated platforms, jacking up the price 10 grand and more.
All the while, they've made little relative headway in their market preception. Then the Japs come out with TLs and so forth, with all the luxuries of the Audi at a literal fraction of the cost, less issues, and better resale, and better brand recognition. They are one stupid car company.
