Default What would cause excessive tread wear on only one tire?

My right front tire has a LOT less tread than the left front. At first I thought alignment was to blame, but wouldn't both tires be affected? Both are Bridgestone Potenza RE 040. Any input is appreciated.

Default Alignment can differ per side. Have you hit any large potholes?

Simple = Alignment out of wack.

Harder = Something's bent or broke.

Low tire pressure, always making right turns...

Default You mean left turns...

...my front right always wears the fastest too. Generally on the street for aggressive drivers there will be more tire wear in the aggregate on left corners than right corners. U-turns are left corners and left corners at intersections are longer in length than right corners, so you spend a greater number of miles over time turning left than turning right.

Default No large potholes..

hit that I can recall. Tire inflation is checked regularly. Hate to spend $90 on an alignment job if that has nothing to do w/it.

How much does one new tire cost you? An alignment can also diagnose any issues.

Default No, I meant right turns...

As in a right turn would load the opposite side and cause more tire wear there...in this case, on the left side tire.

Anyway, it's a stretch. I've never had issues with one front tire wearing significantly different than the other, so I'm just throwing out possibilities.

...but it's his right tire that's wearing out faster.
