What's the difference between BPV & BOV and why do Audi's use BPV?

BPV recirculates the "bypassed" air, while a BOV blows it off to the atmosphere.
Audi's need a BPV as the engine thinks a certain amount of air will be entering the combustion chamber. If some of that air is "blown-off" via a BOV, the car will run rich.
