Default Wheel spacer side effects

I am thinking of adding some 10 mm wheel spacers to my stock wheels for winter use. (I dont like the way the wheels sit so far in with no spacer.)

I've done a search, but didn't really see any side effects of using the spacers. Does anyone know of any? Is there any reason I shouldn't use them?

Default DON'T DO IT!

15mm spacers are better ;-)

In all seriousness, get 15mm spacers...I run MTMs on my OEM wheels w/Winter tires

My ride height is 25 1/8F...no rubbing thus far (2 winters)

Default Yes...

It will increase the loads on the wheel bearings and hubs. The Audi already has issues with wheel bearings. I've also seen lug nuts fail. These failures can all be catastrophic.

I personally wouldn't do it unless you had no choice.

Oh, and it also adds unsprung weight.

Having said that, 10mm isn't a lot.

Default changes suspension geometry in a way that may

shorten the life of your wheel bearings and change the loading on some suspension components. there have been some discussions in the past about it in the past. scrub radius and steering angle inclination are effected.

Is this any different than running wheels with 10mm less offset, i.e 35mm?

Default no not really, but at least the load of thw wheel is being

applied on the hub with an aftermarket wheel. that said, i don't think 10mm spacers or a 10mm change in offset is that bad. it does change the scrub radius which effects the steering feel however (not sure for more or less).

3rd. I've run 15mm spacers w/stock wheels for a LONG time w/no problems. Pics in my picposter.

Additional wheel bearing wear, maybe. But causal factor for lug failure? Why???
