Default One of the guys on the D2 forum tested this. There was a difference, but it was minimal

(he was using 15mm's.) They are more for looks than performance.

adding to the question - will the spacers cause the tire to hit the body if the car bottoms out?

Not really a question that can be answered. Depends on suspension, spacers and wheels.

Default depends entirely on wheel offset and spacer thickness

but almost guaranteed if you have stock un-rolled fenders in combination with spacers and anything wider than 245

Default probably vogtland and 18" RS4 reps in the spring. 15 mm spacers pose a problem?

What does rolling the fenders entail?

Default Re: Wheel spacers... only for looks, or has any performance benefits?

Primarily for looks and/or getting some aftermarket wheel/tire combo to clear everything. Adding a spacer will have the same effect as a wheel with less-positive/more-negative offset, and will increase wheel bearing loads. Ideally, you want a combination of wheel size/offset that maintains the same effective offset as the factory set-up--the same relationship between the centerline of the wheel and its mounting surface on the hub.

Thanks, I changed my wheels from stock 7" (or 7.5) width to BBS CH 17*8.5, am I affecting anything?

All depends on their offset (and the effect may be minimal)
