Default Wheels are fine, but don't buy Kumhos'-you'll hate em...

I did, and got S03's which are infinitely better. As long as you are buying good wheels for a nice car, don't skimp on tires. Spend the extra 200-300 for the best tires. You'll be glad you did.

Default $200 - $300 may be the difference between...

Getting the wheels, and having my wife say "Can't afford them right now, just get tires". I'm willing to use lesser tires for awhile to get the wheels.... Are the ES100's better, or do you have any experience with them?

The 712 is a decent tire.

Default I agree - great value...

Very good grip in dry and wet (much better than SP5000s (on my fiancee's car)) - and not noticeably noisier.

Default ;-) - He's talking about the 712's. I rode in a car with them at VIR and I wasn't impressed (with

as much of an impression of a tire you can get as a passenger). A lot of people seem to really hate the 712.

Everyone know's my pick is the Kumho MX: <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/1253016.phtml">Here's why</a>

For the same money I'd get the Yoko ES100's.

Default My advice is to save up the extra money and get...

the good stuff. I got the Kumhos for my stock tires and I got lots of road noise, especially when driving on the freeway. Even worse, the steering wheel began vibrating so much on the highway I thought my wheels were loose. They weren't-it was the tires. I checked balancing, alignment, suspension, etc...good thing I had warranty and my dealer was cool. On the track, the Kumhos started to melt after a few laps and the car started sliding around, especially during braking.

All this stuff happened on the stock wheels with 45 series tires. If you get a 35 or 40 series for your 18" wheels, the results will be worse.

By the way, after a month of this bs, I got 18's with S03's and all my problems went away. The ride now is super smooth.

If you buy the Kumho's, you'll be sorry-$400 wasted and your car will ride like ****.
