i can bleed it while the car is off, raise the expansion tank and watch all the bubbles come out of the little hole on the outlet hose from the heater core until it's just at steady stream...
turn the car on, and the only way i can get coolant to come out the outlet of the heater core is if i raise the expansion tank. then, all i get is a little tiny dribble with the hose off, and if i put it on, it stays at dribble and never pushes all the air out of the system.
any guesses on wtf i should do now? because i'm about to burn that car.
i just finished replacing the heater core, and i replaced the coolant temperature sending unit. i really wish i could vag the HVAC, but i dont have vag. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Start the car. Take off resevoir cap. Let the thermostat open, then crack the front engine bleeder screw until just coolant comes out. close bleeder. Then open the rear bleeder, and wait...after a few minutes with the heat on high, you will see coolant start creeping out of the bleeder. Now you must manually lift the resevoir. You will see little bubbles coming out for a few minutes. You must let all the little bubbles out. When pure coolant comes out, close that bleeder put resevoir cap on and you should be done. This whole bleeding process took me more than twenty minutes. Hope it helps...

Leave the heater core bleeder open and eventually fluid will come out. Try holding the revs at 2K for a min or so, then let it idle for a while till it comes out.

...because the level of coolant in the reservoir must be higher than the bleed hole in the heater hose to bleed the system effectively.
I don't have the factory tool (VAG1274/8 and VAG1274/10) so I gently pressurize the reservoir and then slip the hose back over the bleed hole once a steady stream of coolant is coming out.
