Default When i give gas, the RPMs Jump a lot. it's as if the i'm not enaged in a Gear.

this happens in every gear. when i put it in first and slowly let the clutch go,the car doens't lurch foward as it should...suggesting it is a clutch issue. has anyone ever experienced antyhing like this before? i've had other manual cars and the clutch seems to last quite a long time. i'm a pretty good driver, my brother and i learned on this car, however we have never abused it and rarely drive agressively. Back to the problem, so when i give guess the RPMs go from 3000 to 6500 in a matter of a second, and this is in 5 or 6th gear! i release the gas and the RPM drops and then i give gas again and the RPM being to increase as it should normally do when you go give gas. but anytime you that you go WOT, the RPM either hiccups or goes up, comes down and then back up. please let me know what this is and i plan to take it the dealership to figure this out as well...

It does sound like a clutch slippage problem.

Default does that mean the clutch needs to replaced or can it be repaired?

i'm also under warranty--would the clutch be covered? thanks

Default I think the clutch falls outside of the warranty coverage...

I never had a clutch problem within the warranty, so I don't have any direct experience with this - my gut tells me it's not covered.

Repaired vs replaced: It's kind of the same issue. Certain parts (unknown until they're removed and inspected) will need to be replaced. That's the repair!

Having said all this, I should mention about glazing. If you have glazed the clutch, and, depending on how badly the clutch is glazed, the clutch may return to "normal", but this will only happen after some moderate driving (several miles). Did you ever smell a "bad" odor coming from under the middle of the car - like something mettalic was burning? That would have been the clutch from being glazed.

Default It should have been.

If you still have the receipt, call AoA and complain. A lot of dealers are citing that they will replace the clutch once under warranty, and a number of folks have rec'd a new clutch.
