When in tiptronic, is it normal for the tranny to automaticly shift to second?...way before redline

Yes -- Tip shifts quickly from 1 to 2 regardless of engine speed

What exactly does the tip chip do?

Default speeds up the time to shift when in Tip mode
so when you're in Tip mode, and you shift, there's less of a delay between the time you press the button (or tap the shifter) and when the car actually shifts.

Default The Tip for the S4/A6 2.7/4.2/Allroad(last year)/A8 have auto upshift for emissions
reasons. The A4 Tip nor the new Allroad Tip does this. I'm trying to get the tranny manufacturer to delete this on my car. It is annoying.

Default If you make any progress getting the autoshift elminated, can you let the rest of us know?
