Where is the logic in shining a flood light in the drivers eyes by the police?

I admit I should have a nice ticket or maybe have some jail time under my belt. However I need to know why a cop would choose to blind a driver moving at 55 MPH???
So last night I'm coming home around 10:30, on the Garden State Parkway and decided since there is no traffic and most of the state police is 2 miles back on some big investigation, I should open my virgin S4 up and get some fun miles on her. Well I'm moving along well above the 55MPH speed limit when I notice headlights slowly getting larger, I'm in the far right , it's in the far left on a 6 lane highway. After a second of processing I realize it's caprice head lights and lightly( and stupidly) tap the brakes and coast to 65 MPH, the defacto limit. So he,her,it pulls up even with me and turns on the 100 Watt flood light and shines it in my face for well over 1/4 mile. Now it's dark out and shinning a light in some faces while they are trying to control a 3500lb peice of steal moving 55-65 mph is not very intelligent, IF he wanted to check me he should have pulled me over instead endangering other drivers lives. I thank my lucky stars I didn't get pulled over, but I'm annoyed and disturbed to think. That someone who is supposed to protect the public would endanger it... Whatever maybe I should I trade my S4 for a Yugo, to avoid any further problems... Although Rodney King was in a Elentra..

It's happened to me...usually when you've pissed them off somehow (soggy doe-nuts or something that day) and they really can't catch you. At that point if he/she did if for that long I would have pulled over and say WTF! If they harass, just tell him you'll see them in court! That was uncalled for.

Had it happen to me once when I was 18 or 19. Needless to say I was pissed and made a complaint. Did it do anything? Probably not.
