Who has had a failed throttle body? (Not the boot)

Mine failed today, the symptons were pretty severe today. I had some jerkiness in acceleration, then the EPC light came on. I was not near home or anything so I shut the car off, restarted it - no light or anything. The car ran fine until I shut the engine off for a little bit (while shopping) and came back, drove off again and this time EPC, ABS, ESP, and CE light came on and the car stalled. So I reset the ECU by unplugging it, plugged it back on and immediately the CE/ESP light were on. I limped to the dealership, picked up a loaner - luckily a guy in the back of the service dept. was working today.
The VAG showed about 6 DTCs, 2 ABS/ESP module related ( engine load being too high and some threshold error) and the TB ones were:
DTC: 18175
P-Code: P1767
Description: Throttle Angle Signal Stuck On
DTC: 17988
P-Code: P1580
Description: Throttle Actuator B1 Malfunction
DTC: 17966
P-Code: P1558
Description: Throttle Actuator Electrical Malfunction
DTC: 16606
P-Code: P0222
Description: Throttle Position Sensor -B- Circuit Low Input
We did a throttle adaption, and it adapted fine. The weird thing though was while it was making the noise(TB),t he high pitch sound kept coming in and out, like a loose connector. Monday they're going to open up the motor box, see if the electroides might have corrosion or something, as there wasn't a "total" failure.
The ABS ones were related to the engine load being too high as the butterfly was stuck "open".
The list of things that goes wrong with these cars just goes on and on ;-)
There might need to be preventitive maintenance on these TB's to clean the electroids throughout time or something. I don't know why else they would fail other than some type of corrosion or something.

I suspect water or something seeped in as I noticed some slight water stains on it... I dont know if thats the cause though...
