Who here has K04s only with no other Stage III goodies?
I'm getting a used S4 here soon and have been STFA forever and since my biggest concern is turbo reliability I'm curious who has gone this route. If there are enough people who have done it or are thinking about doing it, maybe some tuners will step up and software can be developed to help out those that don't really want to drop 5-10k on replacing turbos.
I know that if I were to ever replace the turbos I would do it myself as I have tons of experience with engine swaps. My thing is that I would likely do the bare minimum and only if I had blown the turbos. First concern is reliability for me, additional performance is nice but definitely not necessary.
The post about oil lines got me thinking that just swapping out for K04s really shouldn't be stupidly expensive.

tuners making K04 only software is kind of silly IMO
to optimize the K04's which the software would do, would require the upgraded fueling/MAF, ect...
there are a lot of people who run K04's on K03's sucessfully with some minor teaks.

I know it wouldn't be great, but would some slight software differences from just a chip help?
There has got to be a happy medium in regards to software with K04s. I know a regular ol Stage 1 GIAC chip isn't the best for K04s just as much as a full blown Stage 3 program won't work due to lack of all parts needed for the car to run.
Just from searching it seems people kind of shy away somewhat or go full-blown Stage 3 because of the fact that software isn't developed for K04s only. I could be wrong, but that is my impression from the archives.
