Whose blue S4 was beaten by a CAMRY today in Phoenix?

Funny thing is HP is not everything
Torque is also a big factor... When I take my Stock S4 out to the Drag Strip theres all kinds of cars with more HP but they have don't have that torque. I've done second and third gear roll ons with a "TRD" badged Camry and I pulled pretty much at will. Only when I missed a gear did I have to play catch up. Same for my friends modified CL-S that bouts about 280HP. I can pull on him no problem because the Torque is not there. Sure if we go above 140mph he'll get me eventually because I'm limited. i.e. Stock I can see where maybe the S4 was a "TIP" but those are at least a second slower that the six speed. I assume your Camry is stick...

Yeah, no kidding. WTF would anyone buy that car and throw a SC on it
I mean, its an ok car, no soul or character. But to add a SC is like you "wanted" a sports car, but you really don't know what you're doing.
For the money, and for 2 doors w/ a virtually unusable back seat how about an S2000 - heck in Phoenix a convertible must be worth it. How about a 2 door 3 series BMW?

Torque....
" Torque is also a big factor... When I take my Stock S4 out to the Drag Strip theres all kinds of cars with more HP but they have don't have that torque." ---Agreed, it's hard to beat the S4's low end torque. With my previous pulley, I made 216 lb-ft at the wheels. The S4 makes 258@1850rpm, but I have no idea how much torque makes it to the wheels.
" I've done second and third gear roll ons with a "TRD" badged Camry and I pulled pretty much at will. Only when I missed a gear did I have to play catch up." --- TRD sells parts for any Camry. A TRD Camry could have a 4cylinder with 135hp and an automatic. Very few have either the SC or a 5speed.
"Same for my friends modified CL-S that bouts about 280HP. I can pull on him no problem because the Torque is not there. Sure if we go above 140mph he'll get me eventually because I'm limited. i.e. Stock" ---I agree, the CL-S suffers from a lack of low end torque. It also badly needs a manual trans, which it will get this year. BTW, I know someone with a CL-S w/Comptech headers, which add 20hp at the wheels. When I had just 4.5 lbs of boost, I beat him by 3 tenths and 2mph.
" I can see where maybe the S4 was a "TIP" but those are at least a second slower that the six speed. I assume your Camry is stick..." ---What's a "TIP"? If it's a second slower in the quarter than a 6 speed S4, I can beat it.
