But in North America, there was no 1998 S4 and you should not be buying A4 1.8T shocks. They will fit but will wear faster and won't handle the engine weight difference. You have to look up the part number for the 2.8 V6 engine of the A4, but I still remember that the springs and shocks are all different part numbers.
