why do people who sell items, not believe in a "verbal agreement"?

Default I'm having similar problems from the other side of that situation.

Person argrees to buy something from me, says they will send payment on xxxx date. Day comes, no payment, week later, no payment. This has happened to me twice now and I've been emailing the second guy for almost two months now. I'm thinking I'm going to have to put them up for sale again.

Unfortunatley by law a verbal contract is non binding!

they are not as enforceable as written contracts, where terms and conditions are less disputable, but you can still argue for it.

was the joke a little too complicated for you? also, "verbal contract" is the proper term in legal'ese for an undocumented 'oral' contract.
