Why does S4 resale value suck :(
1) the economy (but then all resale values should suck right?)
2) ex S4 owners unhappy with their S4 (or with Audi)
3) ex S4 owners moving onto the next bling bling car (gotta have the latest/greatest)
Makes you really think twice about buying Audi.
Mercedes resale is much much better. For instance, even though the C32 AMG costs more new, in the end it is cheaper to own.

3 is not the case here in the enthusiast comunity ( well not too much)
But its all three in my opinion. also incentives on new cars are too good to be true, you'd have to be stupid to buy a used car since it would cost you more to maintain one out of warrenty.
leases coming off end, people wanting newer greater, and Audis have a ****ty >5 year resale value.

Because of statements that preassume that S4 resale value sucks. ;)
I personally don't think that there's anything wrong with the resale of the B5 S4 in particular. I'm sure that resale values are down across the board, especially with the zero percent financing deals still hanging around, the high unemployment rate, etc. Some people got in over their heads, bought too much car, and had to unload quickly, which leads to a low selling price. Opportunistic buyers come along and ****** a great car for a great price.

It doesn't. You shouldn't buy a new car if you plan on selling it only a few years later anyway.
It doesn't make economic snse, especially in states like mine (MA: 5% sales tax on all cars).

I agree. Guys selling decent mileage and conditipon cars for low 20's....
don't know how to sell and are giving their car's away for below what the market value is for similarly equipped cars.
Dealers by me are getting low to mid 30's for MY00 S4's in good condition with avergae miles.
